Fall 2023 at Cross Timbers Bison Ranch

Howdy, Dusty Baker here, back at the Ponderosa, and today I've got an exciting roundup update for you. The fall of 2023 is in full swing, and the Cross Timbers Bison family is gearing up for some action. Join me as we dive into the recent ranch adventures, projects, and the highly anticipated roundup preparations.

New Gates and Scrap Metal Cleanup:

First off, a big shoutout to Sam and Joel, the unsung heroes helping me with various ranch projects. We've been busy installing new gates, upgrading the ranch infrastructure, and giving the Ponderosa a fresh look. Nothing like a bit of scrap metal cleanup to make room for new beginnings. Stay tuned for some exciting updates on the ranch facelift.

Behind the Scenes: Bison Training for Film Crew:

Now, let's talk about an unexpected but exciting development. A film crew rolled into the Ponderosa to capture the essence of ranch life. They wanted to feature us in one of their episodes, and we gladly welcomed them. While they were busy filming, I saw it as a golden opportunity to train the bison, specifically the Dumbar herd, for the upcoming roundup. Take a peek at the behind-the-scenes action as we worked on strategic maneuvers, drove the bison with cubes, and got them mentally prepared for the big move.

Roundup Prep: Dumbar and Big Joe Herds:

As we gear up for the fall roundup, the first step involves the Big Joe herd. Pasture one has been resting for a couple of months, providing the perfect environment for the bison to graze. Big Joe, our charismatic bison, is ready to make his move. Witness the excitement as we open the gates and let the bison roam freely into their new grazing haven.

And that's just the beginning! The Dumbar herd is next in line, and we're eagerly anticipating their journey to join the Big Joe herd in pasture one. The family is behind the camera, ready to capture every moment of this thrilling roundup. From the enthusiastic Brooks to Maya, Jackie, and Eleanor – it's a family affair at Cross Timbers Bison Ranch.

Closing Thoughts:

A big thank you to our loyal viewers for joining us on this bison-filled journey. Whether it's new gates or the upcoming roundup spectacle, we're thrilled to have you by our side. Stay tuned for more ranch updates. Until next time, y'all stay wild and bison-strong!

Cheers,

The Cross Timbers Bison Ranch Team

Hey Dusty,

I have been following your channel for sometime now, and it is always so interesting watching your videos. You and your beautiful family have done a great job raising the bison. I can tell that the bison are so use to you now that Big Joe was literally licking your glove. It’s good that you always use caution even though they are getting a little domesticated to some degree. They are so different now compared to earlier episodes. Stay safe and keep doing what you are doing.
